Omega may be the last letter of the Greek alphabet, but you can bet this won’t be the last time you’ll hear about omega 7. This healthy fatty acid, like omega-3, has the power to decrease inflammation throughout the body. (Important tip: You only want to consume purified omega-7, or palmitoleic acid. Avoid any omega-7 derived from sources like sea buckhorn, as these contain palmitic acid which increases inflammation.)
We recently received a letter from a guy who’s been taking purified omega-7 and asked us to reassure his wife it was a smart move. Well yes, he can tell her that only good things come from taking omega 7. In fact, she may find he’s now like Alien Burt from the ’70s sitcom Soap. (If you recall, Bert suffered from bouts of impotence until aliens captured him and sent a replica – called Alien Bert – to take over his life. Alien Burt didn’t share Bert’s impotence, so his wife Mary was extremely satisfied with the exchange!)
And here’s something else purified omega-7 may achieve for you. Elevated levels of CRP show how inflamed your artery walls are. When you reduce that inflammation, you may lower your risk for heart disease, stroke, memory loss, wrinkles and even impotence.
Studies show that purified omega-7 may decrease fatty liver and insulin resistance, while lowering blood sugar. It can also decrease triglycerides and “bad” LDL cholesterol levels, while increasing “good” HDL cholesterol.
We haven’t found any negative side effects from taking this friendly fat. That’s why Dr. Mike takes 420 mg of purified omega-7 a day.
